Observing – Reflecting - Transforming

This program was developed by Believe In Our Youth in Mexico.  This year the National University of Mexico awarded a grant to bring this program to 10 schools in Ensenada, Mexico. 

This program is now available for the First Nation, Metis and Inuit Communties of Canada.

Art as an expression of human consciousness and desire for communication is a perfect media to develop life skills in youth. Through this workshop teens experience the world in new ways, becoming empowered, aware and self-assured.

Objectives

  • Empower the youth, develop self-esteem, and self-confidence
  • To teach skills by which youth can find their purpose in life and goals they desire.
  • To open the possibilities of self-expression and economical development in art related careers.
  • To better their capacity for producing new innovative ideas
  • To improve their capacity for implementation of ideas
  • To develop productive view of life overcoming routines and clichés
  • To teach how to interact with the environment in a satisfactory creative way
  • To teach how to think in terms of process and not get blocked by imaginary negative outcomes
  • To learn how to feel more alive and happy in life
  • To develop divergent thinking in the youth
  • Understand the important of discipline and focus to achieve any goal in life.
  • Explore what is Creativity, and how to develop it for a better living
  • Observe that all situations are the result of multiple causes and conditions and will explore their own participation in the creation of their lives.
  • Improve their capacities of expression and communication.
  • Experience photography as an emotional balancing activity.
  • Know the difference between convergent and divergent thinking and how to benefit from both of them.
  • Create images that reflect their unique perception of life.
  • See their community and life from the artistic point of view
  • Know the basic elements of photography to get motivated into becoming professional photographers or enter the field of multi media finding an interesting and exiting purpose in their lives.
